EMBRACING THE INTERLOCKING BLOCKS.

For the past few weeks, we have been highlighting different models of construction in our weekly property index magazines. Today we bring you something on "Interlocking bricks" a cheap way to construct your house while saving on some items.

Constructing your rural home need not to be expensive especially with emergence of many new construction technologies meant to bring down building costs. Items such as Sand, cement and stones are some of the major cost drivers in construction which contribute to high labor costs.

Embracing the use of Interlocking blocks or bricks however brings these major cost down. The amount of cement , sand used and time can be kept to a minimum when you opt for
an interlocking brick house. The use of interlocking bricks is likely to cut costs of construction up to 30%of the total cost of
construction.

Interlocking bricks are made in different ways, but the most viable and common method in Western is the mix of red soils, small portions of sand and cement, addition of little water to
create an affinity and then squeezing the materials into a shaped block using different kinds of interlock machines at your disposal.

This method is simple since it doesn't need very skilled and expensive labour. It uses the good readily available good Western soils. The soils being unearthed on roads sides during road constructions are very ideal for this.
Many blocks can be made in one of two days, and their sizes are bigger and we'll compacted compared to the small bricks and the expensive quarry stones.

The interlocking block machines are readily available and can be hired from one person to another for maybe a day to seven
days of work.

The interlock blocks are arranged in a particular format conjointly fitting into each other without leaving any spaces within them. This makes the blocks very reliable for use without cement or sand, except at certain levels such us lintels. You may also choose to leave the walls natural with the block face or plaster the wall to your desired look.

They are slightly bigger than normal baked bricks and slightly smaller to quarry stones. Hence s few pieces will be required for your three bedroom bungalow. The machines are usually available on hire, but if you are lucky you may get ready made blocks for your purchase.

Embrace, interlocking blocks. Cheaper and saves on costs.
