MWALE MEDICAL AND TECHNOLOGY CITY SLOWLY SHAPING UP.
This magnificent one man show project was initially launched in the year 2014 in the remote villages of Lunza, Butere constituency, Kakamega county. This Ksh. 200 Billion project is under US sponsorship under the pioneer and stewardship of one Julius Mwale, a brother to the sitting area MP, Hon Tindi Mwale. It's located 32km from Kakamega town on Bukura-Butere Road. The medical city was majorly established as a main cancer center in West Kenya and by extension, Kenya and East Africa as a whole and has adopted "HAMPTONS" as it's main identify name for all it's departments.
The project started as a false dream with lots of false prophets casting aspersions against it. But the negativity never detected Mwale, the man who had left the United States to come and convert his remote village into a medical techno and tourism city.
The project has slowly mutated from nothing to something, with some of the major projects talked on paper work slowly taking shape. The delay in community support slightly slowed down the project but it's slowly picking up after the communication started seeing gradual change of the area.
Among major projects being undertaken in the medical city include, The set up of modern high-tech cancer medical center, installation of pure green energy to provide power in the whole city through solar panels and conversion of wastes into energy, construction of tarmac roads in the whole area, which was among the first projects in the area, construction of a 32-hole golf course which almost complete, construction of a modern spar and resort for lunch, drinks and relaxation, a project that was among the first to be completed, construction of a modern indoor swimming pool, construction of a mall come supermarket, and lastly, the construction of modern first class private homes for staff and interested buyers.
The project also has a proposal for the construction of a mini-airport which has not yet commenced, the construction of areal cable cars to connect several districts within the city, a project that has not commenced yet too, the construction of three major towers to house different offices, which hasn't kick started yet, and lastly the construction of an industrial and recreation parks, which also have not yet started too. It's important to note that the constructions and the structures look scattered in the vicinity to leave room for manicure and landscaping works which will be done slowly once major projects have been completed.
The projected has adopted the idea of upgrading the residents houses within the districts and incorporate them into the city instead of moving them away. This has raised the living standards of many through the skyrocketing price of lands in the area. The residents can also enjoy the benefit of constructing rental and residential houses for the sudden high demand of housing units in the area. The project has seen several residents houses upgraded to modern houses free of charge, terming the project as a God-sent.
The tarmacked streets are now fully installed with solar power, hence the once dark village now glitters with brightness when the night sets in. The project has truly changed the life of the once forgotten villages of Lunza, Butere.
The project has installed high speed 4-G internet in the whole city districts and to all schools in a radius of 3 miles from the medical district, and with the advent of 5-G internet, the hospital is also targeting to have the highest speed interface installed at the facility soon.
Last year, the hospital and mainly the cancer center was officially opened its doors to patients on referral basis. The hospital has also held several free medical camps in different places in the county to offer free services as it seems to create awareness of it's opening. Hamptons hospital was also issued with NHIF accreditation to treat patients through the medical cover. The hospital also opened a separate wing to treat other medical cases that are not related to cancer in an effort to be a one stop shop for all medical services.
The project is expected to complete in a year or two with more tourists expected while the local people and the community will be benefiting immensely through this project through job opportunities, service delivery and property appreciation.
Welcome to Kakamega. Let's build Kakamega.
