  Residents of Mumias town and it's environment cannot hide their joy after the largest sugarcane miller in the country, Mumias Sugar Company started crushing cane following a successful maintenance exercise by the Sarrai Group after a five year break. The outgoing Kakamega Governor H.E Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya toured the factory and expressed optimism that it will roar back to full life moreso if local leaders keep politics off its revival. This magnificent one man show project was initially launched in the year 2014 in the remote villages of Lunza, Butere constituency, Kakamega county. This Ksh. 200 Billion project is under US sponsorship under the pioneer and stewardship of one Julius Mwale, a brother to the sitting area MP, Hon Tindi Mwale.
